Has there been any additional information or progress on adding SGC or other grading companies?

We are supporting SGC on the site now.  There is an SGC 10 price point on every card page and SGC sales data for other grades is integrated into the database like PSA and BGS.

You can view it at a link like this:

https://www.sportscardspro.com/game/basketball-cards-1986-fleer/michael-jordan-57#full-prices

We are still gathering sales data for this, so we don't have SGC 10 prices for every card.

I was always told that all grading companies were different in terms of legitimacy. I was always told to use PSA, because they had the most juice in the trading card world. And I was told that because some graders had more credibility than others, the value of the cards would not be the same. And by the way, should all high-profile cards be graded? I'm a newbie to the game, so b gentle.

Adding SGC as the recognized #3 and some might say #2 grading company, would be of tremendous value to all of us who would like to be able to compare the top 3 at a glance.  With PSA's log jams and BSG going almost silent in the past couple of years, SGC has risen to challenge during the pandemic and offered collectors a reputable place to continue grading their cards at a still reasonable price.  Add this feature and it will set you apart from the competition!

Now, we may b thinking about a similar idea. I like the idea of using sgc, but I'm thinking there could b more interaction. Actually, I was wondering if Sportscardpro would be wiling to work with SGC by providing certain things like discounts for grading,  additional tips on how to prepare a card for the h highest assessment/grade. I believe there should be a option to authenticite questionable cards (just like ebay). If SCPro has a sufficient membership, then perhaps SGC will agree to make other concessions. dd

I'm am irritated by the top 2 or 3 graders. They are not very user friendly and seem to be hell bent on grading down.

There standards are unrealistic and the PSA magical 10 or the Beckett 9.5 grades are almost impossible to achieve, particularly with the older cards. People like myself who grew up with these cards find it very disappointing when a celebrated, modern day rc is more valuable than hall of famers who should be revered. The beautiful inserts, memorabilia, refractors and parallels definitely have their place, but not at the expense of 50-60 yr. old legends that are hard to keep without at least minor damage. When i grew up sports cards were actually bought by children and traded between one another (mostly). Most adults/children had no idea that one day these cards would hold value. So, for most of us older collectors are being pushed out the market. Cards we thought were premium are not. (Let me get off my soapbox).

Lastly, the graders are crooks. As you probably know, they contract for a fee and if the determine the card to be very valuable, then they additional fee based on how much they card is now worth. That's nuts. I would atleast ask the graders to wait for the additional payment at least until a buyer is found. Maybe a relationship between sgc and scplus can happen and these ideas made manifest.

We are in contact with SGC to see about getting POP data and integrating them into the site a bit more.  Nothing definitive but we hope to work with them, and other grading companies more.
