Add "variant" clarification/definition to "add new card" template
Problem: Please add clarification or definition to the "add a new card" page. Variants that are incorrectly added cause a high number of duplicate listings in the set checklist, which results in incorrect pricing data for both.
Request: Based on variants that have been added over time, it would be good to know what is considered a "variant" so that new cards are created correctly and older, incorrect cards can be requested for removal. (IMHO, a variant is a "parallel" or variation of a card that is produced by the manufacturer and available to buyers/collectors.
Screenshot of the current field details:

Examples of variants I've seen that have been added to checklists:
- 1983 Topps football
- All-Pro (not a variant, just a card label)
- Record Breaker (not a variant, just a card label)
- Player and card description conflict in title
- 1982 Topps football
- 1982 Topps baseball
- Base vs. "blackless"
- 1989 Upper Deck baseball
Some additional variants I've come across:
- Variants added
- Errors (should have correct and incorrect versions. an uncorrected error is not a variant, just a base card with an error)
- Base/glossy/Tiffany (if not listed as their own sets)
- Parallels (Genesis, Honeycomb, etc.)
- Base/gold/silver/bronze
- Autographs from manufacturer
- Gray/cream back, white/yellow front font, white/red back
- Non-variants added
- In person autographs
- Empty boxes
- Packs
- Reprints/replicas/custom/promotional (by artist-no, by manufacturer-yes)
- Card labels (All-pro, in-action, rated rookie, Star Rookie (1989 Upper Deck)
I'm sure there's more, but I've kicked this dead horse with enough examples. lol
