Grading Recommendations NOT based on a 10

I'd love to be able to modify what grade the grading recommendation is based on. For modern cards, the 9/10 comparison makes a lot of sense--most of these cards aren't worth the money to grade if they don't come back as a 10. But if part of your collection is older (50s/60s/70s) there's no way that any of your 1955 Topps cards are going to be a 10. If I think my 1955 card would grade a 5, where does that get me? I'd like to prioritize the cards I want to get graded based on a more realistic profit projection grounded in condition and market data. Am I better off getting a mid/low grade old Jackie Robinson graded or a numbered Shohei variant? It's frustrating to do with the way things are set up now.
